began teaching at Truman in 1992. Dr. Bartter specializes in, and usually teaches Modern American Lit, Fantasy, Science Fiction, World Mythology--both 308 and 502, American Indian Lit, 20th Century World Lit (ENG 307), Slavery and After (Eng 266), and Native American Conflict (JINS 304). Her current research interest is Young Adult Fantasy.

      "I'm an academic retread--pulled out of college to bear and raise a family--so I didn't follow the standard college - grad school - teaching path. But I love teaching at Truman, so I'm glad I stuck it out."
