"I’m a native Illinoisan (and lifelong Cubs
fan) and did my MA and PhD in English Literature at the University of
Colorado-Boulder. My dissertation was on late 19th-century novels and plays
in which a minister loses his faith. Before returning to academe, I was a
professional grantwriter and worked for a state humanities council.
My interests include reading, cooking, antiquing, hiking, and making believe
that I’m competent as a plumber and carpenter."
